Create Your Own Calendar
This tutorial actually is a “special gift” from Just About Photography because year 2008 will end soon. I just remember that we’ll need to buy a new calendar for ourselves and also for our family, friends, etc. Before you buy new calendar why not try to make your own calendar – for me, I like to use calendar which the photos are taken by me. In addition, I also feel happy if I can give my own calendar to my family and friends – although (maybe) my own calendar aren’t good enough compare with others.
First I just want to remind that everyone should have different style to create ‘your own calendar’. There is no limitation about your style – if you like your own style keep continue with your own style even other people maybe critique your style. But for some cases, you also need to review again what other people said about your style, if his/her critique is good for you maybe you need to consider it.
Merry Christmas 2008
We wish you “Merry Christmas” – 聖誕快樂 (read: sheng dan kuai le) – Selamat Natal for all of you that celebrate Christmas. Actually from 21st to 24th December 2008 I have a plan to write something about Christmas in my blog – but I don’t have any idea what topic I should write. Until 25th December 2008 I also don’t have something to write ^^ – so maybe I just write my activity from 21st to 24th December 2008 regarding Christmas.
Sunny Winter Day
7th December 2008 is my first time joining dcview activities about portrait activity. For more detail about dcview, you can click this link – sorry only Chinese available. I named this article “Sunny Winter Day” because when I join this activities the day is bright although it’s a winter season. I think it’s good to enjoy sun light in nice winter season – for me winter is the best season. “Summer Winter Day” also become my first portrait album title in Taiwan. Because this is my first time, the result maybe not very good – still experimenting on it especially on color management. Anyway I always do my best not only in taking photo but also in editing the photo.
Model is 茵芙 (read: yin fu), photographer: me, place is 435藝文特區 (read: yi wen te qu) – 台北, 台灣 (read: Taipei, Taiwan) – Album title: Sunny Winter Day. In this photo session I only use EOS 5D and 35mm/f1.4L to take all photos. Please click read the rest of this entry to see all photos.

Correcting Blur Using Photoshop CS 2 or CS 3
Have you ever takes a photo in the dark room then you get blur photo because your hands can’t hold the camera tightly. Actually the problem isn’t only your hands but also the object. Actually the terminology “blur” has many meanings for me, first is blur caused by miss focus. Blur that caused by miss focus doesn’t have any relationship with shutter speed – it has relationship with focus selection point and aperture. Using wide aperture (for example: f/1.4) will cause miss focus easily than using narrow aperture (for example: f/4). Sometimes it also has relationship with your camera, for example my 400D the focus point in the center is better than the other focus position – so I prefer using center focus point selection. In order to correct this problem you can read my previous tutorial here. Second is blur caused by handshake or moving object. It usually happens when the light is not sufficient so the shutter speed is very slow. In this tutorial I try to write simple method to correct blur caused by handshake.

Taoban Dinner Day
2008 December 08 is special day for me and my friends - we go to expensive restaurant and have dinner there. This restaurant is famous in Taiwan, for dinner you must pay about 520 NTD – quite expensive for me. If you are in Taiwan, I suggest you to visit this restaurant, for more detail click this link.
Below I attach some photos that I take in there.

Generate Blur to Make Your Photo Stands Out
This tutorial actually is basic for portrait photography – I am sorry if you feel this tutorial is too basic. First I want to say that it is important to make your photo stands out. In this tutorial I just want to give some idea to make your photo stands out by generating blur. In this tutorial, I also add some improvements such as local contrast, sharpening and tone adjustment – like in my previous tutorial.
